About the ProjectMeditation with Amber was a small course-based business founded by Amber Lee. Her program was a significant investment for students, and therefore her website need to give people the confidence to trust her as a teacher before they bought the course, which she felt her existing website was not achieving. I helped Amber create a new brand identity and rebuilt her website from the ground up to be both authentic to her personality and also effective at presenting her offerings.
My ApproachAmber had some ideas for how she wanted her branding to feel – she was really drawn to minimal, calm designs, and also wanted it to feel somewhat tactile or hand-written, or like reading a cozy book. I found a hand-written scrawl-y type font that was exactly the look she was going for, and used it for her logo and as an accent font. When thinking of the tactile experience of reading a cozy book, I thought of the Baskerville typeface, which is often used in book publishing and also has a classic timeless quality that matched the vibe the client had described.
We went with very soft neutral colors and a simple layout – she didn’t want it to feel busy or flashy in any way, preferring a very minimal and calming experience for her website visitors. I also worked with her to figure out how to present the sales page for her main offering in a way that was effective without feeling too overly sales-y.
The ResultThe redesigned site features a home page that branches out to all the other pages of her website, including a sales page for her main meditation course, a video library of free guided meditations, an About page and Contact page. The site positioned Amber as a trustworthy guide in the meditation space.
