About the ProjectThe Live for Lily Rose Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to giving children with neuroblastoma and other pediatric cancers joyful and everlasting memories. It was founded by Esperanza – a mother of a child, Lily Rose, who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Esperanza wanted the website to be both a tribute to Lily Rose and a beacon of hope for families of children affected by pediatric cancers. It also needed to establish the foundation as a credible, trustworthy organization that donors feel good about supporting.
My ApproachThe client wanted the branding to be exactly how her daughter Lily Rose would have wanted it, which meant using purples (her favorite color) as well as imagery of butterflies and the ocean (some of her favorite things).
This project included a lot of custom illustration work. She had an illustration of her daughter drawn previously by an artist, and I created a white outline version of it to use as a brand asset. I then created butterfly and flower vector line drawings that matched the style of the outlined illustration, and used those throughout the website. A gold ribbon is the symbol for childhood cancer awareness, so I created an illustration with a gold ribbon, a lily and a rose to go along with the other version of the logo I had created.
The ResultThe new website is both a heartfelt tribute to Lily Rose as well as an effective way to show visitors the impact the foundation is making in the lives of children with pediatric cancer. Strong call to actions throughout the site make it easy for visitors to donate to the cause.
