About the ProjectShelle Welty is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in trauma therapy and offering tele-health and in-person intensives. Her existing website wasn’t doing much in terms of bringing in new clients, and also lacked the polish needed to present her as an established and trustworthy provider. She knew she had to include more information about her offerings on her website, but she had no idea where to start. I worked with Shelle to rebuild her website, focusing on SEO to attract her ideal client. I also created a logo and branding for her that feels calm and grounding while also conveying the transformation she guides her clients through.
My ApproachWe knew the website was going to be very information-heavy, but the client had no idea where to start with copywriting, so I drafted a text-only rough draft of the website and worked closely with her to perfect all of the copy. She only had a few headshots to use for imagery, so I sourced stock nature photos to balance out the heavy text.
The client really resonated with the symbol of the phoenix due to its transformative nature, and wanted to include a very subtle reference to a phoenix in the logo somehow. I went back and forth with her on custom illustrated phoenixes until we landed on a very abstract representation of phoenix wings that she really liked. I then drew abstract wings to use in the background here and there throughout the website.
The ResultThe new site positions Shelle as an established professional that clients can trust to help them heal from their trauma and deepest wounds. The site features several service pages detailing each of her offerings, and while there is a lot of information, it is spaced out and presented in a way that is visually pleasing and doesn’t feel overly dense with text. Overall the website feels calm and grounded, and conveys a sense of growth and transformation that Shelle wants to create in her clients.
Client FeedbackYou exceeded my expectations! I appreciated your calm presence as we started. For some reason, the project or expense was hard for me to start, but you seemed to know what needed to be done in spite of my uncertainty. I liked the amount of communication--not too much but keeping me updated. I thought the pace of the work was good, toward the end kind of dependent on how quickly I could write the content. I was especially grateful for the extra time you put in to get a logo that felt right to me. I also really appreciate the tutorial videos that give me a sense of reassurance that I can maintain the website for small changes at least.
